Rainbow Division Gloriously Made History in Battle

The Rainbow Division pressed a nine day offensive from La Croix Rouge farm to Mont St Martin near the Ourcq, Sergy, and Nesles fronts. American brigades and French support fought through heavy artillery, machine guns, and gas, with acts of valor by Corporal Manning, Sergt. Hamilton, and many others as they captured Sergy, held hill 220, and pushed toward Nesles while sustaining thousands of casualties and enduring continuous combat. The unit then began pursuing retreating German forces as front lines shifted and reliefs occurred.
