Death of H V Downs: longtime Fairfield resident buried
Funeral services for Henry V Downs were held at his daughter's home with Rev H A Mosser officiating. Interment in Evergreen cemetery followed. Downs died at 3:15 am March 24 1919 after a four day illness from gall stones. He was almost 69, born September 16 1850, survived by five sisters and one brother. married Elizabeth Crawford in 1877 and had six children including Clifford and William. He lived in Fairfield Iowa most of his life, worked in water works, dairy and ice cream, and was active in the United Presbyterian church. He retired due to ill health.
