Major Stellar Recalls 42nd Division War Experiences
Ottumwa native Major C A Stellar addressed a Fairfield Jefferson county audience at a community club dinner in the Armory, recounting trials from the 42nd Division including voyage routes, the Le Havre rest camp, the quiet sector, shrapnel injuries that left him blind in one eye, and frontline duties with G and M Companies. He likened tank support and air power to decisive factors and offered views on Kaiser plans, the League of Nations, and French cooperation.
