Death of Orville Colgson Linked to Tuberculosis
Orville Colgson, a well known young colored man of this city, died Thursday at 5:30 at his South Fifth street home. Death was due to heart failure caused by tuberculosis after several days of illness. He was the only child of Mr and Mrs George Coleson and would have turned twenty next June.

Loss in Glasgow Fire Destroys Kerrick and Company Store
Nerrick and Company of Fairfield sustained a heavy loss when their Glasgow store building burned Wednesday night. An added store room used as an undertaking shop, stock, and building were entirely consumed, with no insurance. E P Taylor of Glasgow oversaw the store. The blaze destroyed the old structure, saved only a few items from the porch, origin undetermined, estimated loss over 500 dollars.

Died at Washington Miss Bessie Philips
News of the death of Miss Bessie Philips daughter of L Philips formerly of this city reached friends yesterday. She died Saturday in a hospital in Washington D C after an eleven week stay and a serious appendicitis operation. Miss Philips about 20 years old was well known here. she is survived by her father two brothers and three sisters all in Washington D C. Funeral services were held yesterday at the residence and interment followed in a city cemetery. The many friends will be saddened by the loss.

Charles Beck died Thursday at two o'clock at his son David Beck's home after several weeks' illness of stomach cancer. A longtime Jefferson County resident in his seventies, he was widely known. He is survived by his son. his wife had died years earlier.
