Exemption Board Plans Immediate Draft Examinations

The local draft exemption board will begin notices to appear for examination as soon as the Jefferson County quota is set. About 1 percent of the county’s registrants will be called first, with physical exams and exemption claims for dependents. If short, a second squad doubles the number called, continuing until the county quota is met. District boards will then review exemptions and repeat the process until 74 men are declared for service.
