Students Recital By Prof Moorhead’s Studio Tomorrow Evening

Greatest 4th Celebration in Local History
A large crowd at Fairfield Iowa filled Chautauqua Park and downtown for Independence Day with no disturbances. The Jefferson County Community Club organized events including a community dinner, speeches by J. S. McKenney and Senator Frailey, and a program by the Fairfield Oratorio Society featuring patriotic songs. The observance emphasized wartime resolve and American unity amid German-American tensions.

Food demonstration and boxing exhibition entertain local crowd
Miss Goswold hosted a food demonstration at the Charles Clapp home, inviting all. In the evening a boxing match featured Billy Clair and J M McNamer, followed by a wrestling display by Joe Kitterman Hedrick the blacksmith and Chris Jordan, ex champion middleweight. The armory wrestling match was canceled due to gate receipts. An Iowa slide lecture at Chautauqua Park drew a large audience while moving pictures could not be shown due to power issues. A local ad promotes men and boys sport shirts at The Drake Clo Co.
