Soldier Bonus Bill Passes Senate for Direct Tax Rise
Madison June 28 The Wisconsin Senate unani mously approves a soldier bonus measure to raise 15 million dollars by a direct tax to pay every veteran ten dollars per month or at least fifty dollars. The plan allows counties to use immediate bond issues and spreads tax increases in later years. A 165 thousand dollar direct tax implies about a 25 percent rise for one year.
