Wesleyan Parsons Narrow Tie In Slippery Field Clash

Iowa Wesleyan and Parsons played to a 0 0 tie on Alumni field in a crowded, slippery contest. Parsons defense stifled Wesleyan despite injuries and an aggressive Wesleyan crowd, while Stewart and Bell faced scrutiny for coaching parity.

Robbers Again Busy at Fairfield

Fairfield reports renewed burglaries Monday with three homes entered. Items taken include an overcoat from Dr J B Monfort on East Broadway and gloves with a silken muffler. At J E Roth on South Main dining room searched while James Louden home saw cookies and eatables taken.

Co M Presents Major Wrestling Match in Fairfield

Company M has arranged a significant wrestling event for Fairfield. Roumas of Burlington will wrestle Kitterman of Hedrick on December 21 in the new Armory, expected to draw a large crowd. Roumas, a Greek wrestler, is a Fairfield favorite, and Kitterman is well known locally. Both ladies and gentlemen are invited.

Oakland Dam Will Be Lowered

The Iowa Power Company sues Andrew Hoover et al in Henry County Iowa court over Oakland area damages from the dam overflow. A sheriff's jury assessed 350 dollars if the dam stays at its original height, versus 11 750 dollars for the higher level. The court will remove the extra two feet, not affecting power, with Judge Ott noting the plant at Oakland suits the original height. The company plans further dams at Augusta Lowell and beyond.

Draft horse sale advertised at Wisecarver barn

Wisecarver Case Settled Friday in District Court

A. C. Wisecarver v C R I P Ry Co and C N W Ry Co ended Friday with Judge F M Hunter directing a verdict for C R I P Ry Co and dismissing the suit against C N W Ry Co because the latter’s lines did not pass through the county. The case had been on the docket over a year with trial starting last Monday and a night session held to finish the matter.

New Q Station and High School Planned for Fairfield

Fairfield leaders entertain a plan for a Burlington Railroad passenger depot and a new high school. The Franklin School site may be bought for the depot next spring, with a centric site possible for the school within two years. Citizens expect a bond vote after architect Liebbe advised the Franklin building’s use should end soon.
