Yesterdays Old Soldiers day opened with Bishop Mc Cabe addressing four thousand veterans as the Chautauqua circuit closed with a strong Lyric Glee Club concert. Gov Robert L Taylor gave a humorous yet plodding talk on castles in the air to about 2 500 hearers. The Seton Indians staged a popular first annual pow wow with Miss Claire Christine Lund praised for leading the troupe. Campers break for home as organizers praise the ten day run and plan for next season.

Wreck At The Crossing In Burlington And Rock Island Collision
A Burlington fast mail train No 15 and an east bound Rock Island freight collided near the crossing of the Burlington and Rock Island lines at 2 30 this morning. The express car of the mail was badly damaged and the Rock Island fireman injured his leg but walked it off. Wrecking trains from Ottumwa Burlington and Eldon cleared the scene and service resumed after daylight.
