The Iowa Telephone Co issues an order to remove bells and crank calls from service. It bans hello girls from buzzing subscribers during working hours. The rule targets nuisance visiting by telephone and disallows casual chatter unrelated to business.
Mrs. Miles wife of General Nelson A. Miles died at West Point New York last Monday from heart disease. The death was unexpected and the general arrived Tuesday. A member of the Sherman family she was the daughter of Judge Charles Sherman and heir of Senator John Sherman and General William T. Sherman aged 62 years.
In the peculiar study of teeth and mouth the snail is praised for a rasplike tongue that bears countless sharp teeth. The ribbon like organ coils with only a small part in use at a time and is densely studded with tiny teeth designed to rasp edible vegetation. One species was counted to have at least 80 000 teeth.
