In early August 1918 French and American forces pressed north of the Marne. French troops seized Cramaille and Cramoiselle while entering Saponay. Soissons fell, cutting the German right wing and triggering a rapid retreat.
Colonel William R. Grove, chief of the subsistence division of the U S Army Quartermaster Corps, heads energy meals for American troops at home and in France.
