Washington officials report the price fixing dispute between the industrial board of the department of commerce and the railroad administration hinges on whether the board will be dissolved immediately or stay in limbo until a final policy is set by President Wilson. Secretary Redfield and others drafted a cable to the president awaiting final shaping in a later conference. Until a decision is made, the board will not continue activities and no prices will be announced for lumber brick cement or other commodities under review.
Berlin in April reports the government accepted a constitutional proposal that equalizes workers with employers and sets wages and conditions. It calls for a national economic council and district councils to collaborate on socialization and related economic issues.
Paris reports King Albert of Belgium warned the country faces a dire social upheaval unless the peace conference offers economic and financial relief. The king’s April Paris visit, tied to boundary talks and Brussels hosting a league, underscored urgent domestic distress beyond border disputes.

The county board, despite a petition, will not call a special election to decide funding for more land for the fair grounds. They ruled the election cost would be high and that the issue should wait for the next regular election.

Washington April 14 heads of 85 leading agricultural organizations issued an appeal to farmers to buy Victory bonds and assist in every way in the loan campaign starting April 21. The appeal praises farmers for their war effort and urges them to lead the drive, finishing what they began. The Liberty loan drive runs from April 21 through May 1.
William Louden of Fairfield Jefferson County Iowa becomes the states first subscriber to the Fifth Liberty Loan. At Liberty loan headquarters he doubled his quota and has long supported Red Cross Y M C A Salvation Army K of C. founder of Louden Machinery Co. He is proud of an office honor roll of seventy five employees in service. Fairfield and Jefferson County commend his patriotism and efforts to win the war.
The Hawkeye Rebekah Club meeting is postponed until Wednesday afternoon next week due to bad weather and illness. The Philathea class of the Methodist church enjoyed a basement church picnic supper last evening with Miss Kerner as a guest.
Geneva April 15 dispatch says lenine emissaries and rotaky left Moscow to seek a meeting with representatives of the allied powers for the first semi of cale conference. The report is received with reserve by Deutsche Tages Zeitung.
Maj. George K. Shuler of the United States Marines arrives in Washington after receiving the Croix de Guerre with two palms and the Legion of Honor for capturing the plenade of Blane Montridge in October. He was personally cited by General Petain for his actions.
