A Monday 2 05 PM gathering in the Fairfield recreation room invites interested men to discuss future athletic plans. Medal to Ping Pong champion Thomas Flaherty will be presented by Father Francis Buck S J. Intramural basketball chiefs urged attendance.
The Debating Club debated Monday March 1 with the topic Should the United Nations be Changed into a Federal World Court John Reynaud and Stephen Sedensky won for the negative Bill Hagney and Harley J Black stood for the affirmative The next debate on March 15 will cover Should the United States Adopt Universal Military Training.
Because of bad weather no regular Student Council meeting was held this week. Frank DiScalati proposed inviting Louis Pagliaro the world table tennis champion for an exhibition. Fr Langguth approved and a committee is arranging it. The recreation room program is progressing well expanding table tennis use during third and fourth periods.
The Glee Club advances quickly and will give its first concert at Berchman’s Hall auditorium for the Bellarmine Guild and Fathers Club on about April 21. Additional concerts and a radio appearance are planned if the group is ready.
The initial Fairfield University social club met in the college auditorium with an open forum. Students discussed activities a meeting place and a purpose and were asked to propose a club name. Father Langguth approved the venture and the group agreed to hold future events in the evening if possible with an afternoon option after the fifth hour.
