Two trolley cars returning from U S Naval Academy graduation collided in Annapolis this afternoon. Eight people were killed and more than forty seriously injured, including graduates relatives and middies. The motorman was among the dead.
Bob Fitzsimmons has agreed to umpire the game in Portland between the local team and Los Angeles tomorrow. Since the announcement there has been a rush to the box office for seats. Fitzsimmons will appear in vaudeville next week opening here and touring the western circuit.
The La velle Young left Dawson this morning with fewer than six passengers amid last minute advisories from Billy Fairbanks now at Waite horse. The vessel will make a quick run to Gibbon and return to Dawson.
At San Pedro on June 6 a steam pipe on the cruiser Tennessee burst during a speed trial, instant killing four firemen and fatally injuring two more while ten others suffer severe scalds. Crew members rushed into the stoke hole to aid the injured as heroism is noted. The commanding officer orders a strict investigation and the engineer officer is placed under arrest.
