A wartime dispatch reports that the enemy air raid damaged several vessels but that repairs allow Alain to resume operations. Officials confirm no loss of life and the fleet remains mostly seaworthy with drive trains intact.
United Press reports the Nome fleet regaining strength after ice damage. The Victoria finishes repairs and loads today then sails tomorrow night. The Senator remains under repair and is set to sail about July 26, about a week later.
Seattle July 15 The local chamber of commerce weighs a petition from Fairbanks resident urging recruitment of young women to move to Tanana. The writer cites a 5000 male population with only about 500 married and asks the chamber to advertise in New England and other regions with a surplus of women to encourage immigration.
Herb Wilson, operator on Goldstream, reports his water supply shut off by rival Hootch Williams who operates one above. Wilson staked the right long ago and spent heavily to build a ditch from his dam downstream. A serious dispute over the original title to the water right has arisen.
New York July 15 Senator Platt marks seventy five years of age and reports excellent health claiming no aging since twenty years ago. He has received many congratulatory telegrams from friends.
A new British cruiser H M S Indomitable sustaining non serious damage after colliding with an iron scow while en route to Quebec with the Prince of Wales aboard. No injuries reported and repairs to be completed quickly before resuming the voyage.
Local Masons lodge will convene this evening at the auditorium to transact much new business. All members are urged to attend.
Edward J. Stier challenges The Times over a Seattle telegram alleged to show Guggenheim backing for Judge Wickersham. He promises $100 to Fairbanks hospitals if the paper can produce the telegram verified by Sergeant Merrill and consistent with the Times’ claim.
Seattle July 15 Cale withdraws absolutely because of the dangerous illness of his wife and daughter. Congressman Sulzer expresses regret but will still shout for home rule. A. E. Light speaks for the absent candidate. United Press notes Sulzer as a Cale supporter while papers report stumping for Jack Ronan.
The N. N. Co. steamer Tanana arrived at port last night with 21 passengers and 450 tons of freight consigned to this place. The big barge St. Michael No. 5 was pushed up the river by the Tanana and direct connections were made with the Susie at Fort Gibbon, just arrived from St. Michael. Passenger list includes A. Simpson, Sam Lerra, Wm. Boudden, C. Summerman, Mrs. L. Mills, H. G. Gassen, W. G. Johnson, D. Boylan, J.S. Brewis, G. A. Jeffery, Wm. Scounce, M. W. Farrell, Ed Olsen, T. Johnson, M. Mileden, C. Grisell, G. Mallenson, L. B. Rhodes, F. S. Gordon, David Kay, Mrs. David Kay.

Seattle July 1 The steamer Saratoga has had its insurance paid and the wreck abandoned. English underwriters delayed settlement hoping to salvage and return her to Alaska Steamship Co. They ruled the cost and risk too high to pursue recovery. The steamer sank March 20 with 200 tons of ore in her holds.
A suit filed in district court by the firm de Journel and Roden on behalf of Frank Gustave son seeks $1,000 plus interest from August 1 1907 against Nels Peterson. The claim centers on a promissory note due by June 1 1908.
