New York reports 75 deaths from sunstroke in the 24 hours ending last night. Nearly three fourths died instantly on the streets while others lingered in hospitals for one to seven days. Morning cool with hopeful outlook and forecast for much lower afternoon temperatures.
The Fairbanks post office reports a season of record mail volume with over 22 tons received in 12 days. Last five boats shipped more than 44,200 pounds to the local post office and the Tanana carried 25,000 pounds on the third from last trip.
