Oaths Taken by Nobles and Treason Charge in 17th Century
On Friday the Right Honourable George Earl of Northampton took oaths as Constable of the Tower of London and Lord-Lieutenant of the Tower Hamlets. Other nobles named as Lord Lieutenant include Duke of Shrewsbury for Salisbury, Duke of Northumberland for Berks, Earl of Abingdon for Oxford, and Nathaniel Lord Crew for Durham. A bill of indictment was found against Mr. Tho Kirby for high treason in the murder of Col. Parks, late governor of the Leeward Islands. The Rev. Dr. Fuller of Hatfield is reported dead. Advertisements detail entertainment at a Water Theatre in Pickadilly, insurance schemes from the Land Security Office, and medical preparations from Dr. Tilburg in Holborn Row. A publication note announces The History of Prince Mirabel's Infancy forthcoming from J. Baker.
