Public Notices and Appointments in July 1717
In London on July 16 the Crown relieves burdened subjects by popular credit measures. The King promotes Stanhope to Baron Stanhope of Elvaton and Viscount Mahon, and appoints a Trade and Plantation Commission with Carlisle and Pelham among others. Minorca stores, Chester justice, and naval and diplomatic postings are noted, along with South Sea prices. Several booksellers advertise sermons and religious tracts, and household goods are to be sold publicly on July 17, with a missing-apprentice notice for James De la Fountain offering a reward.
