Galleon fleet from Vera Cruz arrives with vast treasure
News from Cadiz reports eight ships of the Paris Asia India fleet reaching port after a voyage from Vera Cruz on September 6. The treasure on board is valued at about 7,986,920 pieces of eight with goods totaling near 12 million pieces, including two and a half million of fish. Also, Madrid and London dispatch detail Ceuta siege losses and a new French reinforcement threat to the Moors, with fortifications enhanced and lines prepared for defense.
