Siege and troop movements around Orbitello reported
From Leiden Gazette April 15 and later dispatches in London describe General Zumlungen’s departure from Bafignang to Orbitello to support Colonel Starembergy near Porte-Hertole with 5000 men. Imperial artillery arrives from Naples. The Portland governor destroys shelters, tortures deserters, and imprisons locals suspected of aiding the Imperialists. Reports also note French troop concentration between Cambray and Arras, Albemarle’s river passages, and various ship arrivals and markets at Monferrat and Baltimore.
