Prize Ship from Havana Seized by British Squadron
Reports from Leiden Leiden Amsterdam and Antwerp describe a Spanish La Galera class prize ship with 24 guns and 200 men, captured near Faro after being pursued by Admiral Bakers squadron. The vessel, returning from Havana to Cadix with a Marquis on board, was seized and its cargo of sugar tobacco cam dacey weed and silver valued at 30000. The capture follows reports of attacks by eight English warships and the sinking of the vice-admiral, with other ships damaged or captured.
