The Duke of York and European Court Moves
A fragmentary 18th century column notes travel of the Duke of York and allied princes to Hanover and Brunswick, with gifts exchanged, and other court movements including the King of Prussia toward Potsdam. It records deaths, audience with the French ambassador, and a description of political caution in Madrid and Lisbon. Also described are a dramatic fox hunt near Windsor, and early notes on Hispaniola under French influence and Spanish rule. The piece comments on sugar trade and anti-fuger efforts in England with calls for ale and cyder as alternatives.
