Theatre Review of Hamlet at Drury Lane

The Drury Lane production of Hamlet drew a large audience with Kenng Mrs Jordan and Mrs Powelet still influential. Critics note clumsy fencing between Hamlet and Laertes and regret no attendance to speed and cowardice of the usurper, while admiring the English Dutch fleet display and a vibrant God Save the King finale with Britannia and Victory banners.

Mrs Gr'bas' Performs In Comedy Of A Cube For The Heart

SOV ENT GARDEN presented a stage reading featuring Mrs Gr'bas in the role of Gatland in a pleasant Comedy of A Cube for the Heart. Her display drew repeated audience applause though the piece offered limited exiting sympathy compared to the previous actor. An added scene depicted the defeat of the Dutch by Admiral Duncan and the boarding of a Dutch ship, ending with a fight scene and Rule Britannia, plus two verses composed for the occasion, though not highly praised.

Victorys Consequences Highlight Naval Supremacy

An account stresses the victory’s importance for national interests, promising reduced need for a large navy, and the goal of lasting naval superiority. It links strength abroad to peace at home and hints that French danger could force favorable peace terms if land disasters unfold. A Stirling Castle Skeleton discovery is noted in passing.
