The Lord Chancellor promised to bring the motions to the House next day. Lord Meirs produced a bill extending the 1794 Insolvent Debtors Act for detained debtors. A Morning Post letter quotes a Vienna source alleging that Lombardy monks and nuns face a May deadline to pay one million fifty thousand coins or have their property seized. It defends Colonel Thorne’s sentence, condemns attempts to defraud soldiers of pay, and protests public injustice toward the disgraced.
