Conservation Of Ducks Is Urged By State Agency
FIERRE Sept 27 The South Dakota Game and Fish Commission urges hunters to conserve waterfowl due to a national shortage. Director O H Johnson notes native ducks in parts of the state but calls for strict bag limits and adherence to laws to avoid depleting the supply. Paul G Redington of the Biological Survey says Canadian provinces and US states report a serious trend with hatchery losses and reduced young birds, warning against excessive hunting on concentration areas where ducks may appear plentiful but are not.
