Ree Heights Parent Teacher Group Meets in School Auditorium
The Parent-Teacher Club held its first meeting of the year in the school auditorium with the Women’s Club taking the lead as has been customary. Mrs. B. R. Paine, the new president, led reports and secretary selection, followed by a program featuring a school board parody and the men’s chorus performing. Lunch of pie and coffee was served in the basement by Women’s Club members.

Drum Corps Formed At Gettysburg School
Gettysburg CETTYSBURG Sept 26 Special Donald Shuster school band director introduced a new feature at the start of the year a drum corps. Elsie Stevie as drum major with Inez Hale Doris Frost Cuol Jo Stevie Melva Stephens act as majorettes. The girls wear white sweaters and scarlet skirts each with a 32 inch chromium baton. The corps will perform between halves at football games and appear in the Homecoming Day parade. Later in the season the twirling batons tend color to all ticketball games.

Roosevelt orders 37500 guardsmen to active duty

Funeral Held for Ben W Palmer in Miller
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church in Miller for Ben W. Palmer 75 who died Friday after a brief illness. Born in Wisconsin he homesteaded Dakota Territory in 1880 later lived in Mitchell moved to Band County in 1920 and resided in Miller eight years. He served as justice of the peace. Survivors include his widow a daughter Mrs Nettie Jelmeland of Huron and a son Chester of Coon Rapids. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery Mitchell.
