Ringsrud Says Was Misquoted

Pierre Sept 19 Secretary of State Olive Ringsrud accused Democratic gubernatorial candidate Lewis W. Bicknell of misquoting her in smear attacks on Governor Bushfield. Ringsrud said the Republican campaign expenses report covering 1936 to 1938 was filed by treasurer C. B. Hansen on March 25 1940 and declined Bicknells request to alter the filing date. She offered Bicknell access to the records and urged him to verify the facts.

Tulare High School Picnic Brings Freshmen Welcome

Tulare High School freshmen were hosted by upperclassmen at a picnic last Friday evening in Tulare. After supper a program followed with Juanita Brown as master of ceremonies. Doris Holm welcomed the freshmen, with responses by class members and short talks on school activities by Beth Meyers, William Hadcliffe, and Oscar Goehering. Supt. Tschetter also spoke.

Redfield High elects class officers in week long vote

St Lawrence High School elected class officers across four grades including Kenneth Melson and Doris Phillips as Senior leaders and Carolina Luke as Junior president. Stamp plan approved for Spink County operation

Redfield and Spink County won approval from the Agriculture Department to operate the stamp plan for surplus commodities. Confirmation came via wires from Karl Mundt and Senator W J Bulow after a county report on reef services was sent to the state social security office. No start date was set.

Pioneer Clergymen To Be Honored At Memorial Services

Memorial services in the Congregational Church honor Dr. Stephen Riggs and Rev. Thomas L. Riggs father and son who pioneered Christian conversion among South Dakota Indians. The event marks the centennial of the first Protestant mission in Dakota Territory in 1840 at Fort Pierre. Doane Robinson will preside with music by a Dakota hymns choir.
