French aviators die in Siberian crash near Ufa

Aboard the ill fated airship were Joseph LeBrix Marcel Doret and Rene Mesmin. They departed Paris for Tokyo and crashed near the mouth of the Tamps river in the Soviet Union. The Soviet air chief ordered aid from Ufa to determine the cause. Mesmin was slightly injured and the fate of the third crewman was unclear. LeBrix, famed French pilot, had previously flown a round the world trip with Coste in 1927.

Mrs Mahaffy Dies After Short Illness At Huron

Mrs. Jennie EB Mahaffy aged 83 died this morning at the Hornbeck home 475 Utah avenue southeast after a brief illness. Survived by son Dr J H Mahaffy and daughters Mrs Madge E Hornbeck of Huron and Mrs J L Bilby of Clifton, with a brother George Hynds of Millard Mo and twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral plans await word from relatives. Mrs Mahaffy moved to Huron from St Joseph Mo about six years ago.

In Jonesboro Arkansas on September 12 two First Baptist Church members Dr Hugh Lile and George Coxe Jr pleaded guilty to simple assault after a factional dispute that led to two outbreaks and National Guard presence. J. A. Ward of San Francisco, former Northwestern Public Service manager, returned to Huron for a visit yesterday. Ward, who left in 1926, was en route to Oklahoma City on business and continued his trip this morning.

Seven Arraigned After Liquor Raids In Sioux Falls

Man Found Murdered Believed Identified in Hudson

Local attorney D. Keogan said a man found dead in a Hudson ravine is likely Oscar Anderson of Laverne Minnesota. Sheriff Frank Cords backed the belief after Keogan’s paper with his name and numbers was found on the deceased. Anderson had served 60 days after a liquor transport arrest in Sioux Falls and was released August 8, missing a scheduled meeting with Keogan. The body showed signs of shooting.
