Roosevelt reports a railroad wage dispute settlement process. A three man fact finding board will file its report by noon. 30 day grace blocks wage cuts and nationwide strike effects after the report.
Nazi party officials seized Vienna's Jewish Museum, property of the Taraeling Cultural Community. The museum housed a history of Vienna Jews, costly temple relics, a large library, and portraits of leading Viennese Jews.
Berlin reports indicate that authorities have sent several thousand Polish Jews in Germany back to Poland amid a nationwide roundup. In Berlin hundreds were dragged from beds in dawn raids claimed to stall a Polish citizenship law. A government spokesman said deportations continued to pressure Warsaw to rescind the measure. About 700 faced deportation from Munich by train pending a deal. German estimates place Polish citizens in Germany around 150,000, with 4,000 to 6,000 Jews affected by the revalidation law slated for Oct. 30. Failure to revalidate would bar entry to Poland and may mark them as public charges after midnight tomorrow.
Huron high school football fans can dial 8736 to hear results of the championship clash between the Tigers and the Golden Eagles in Aberdeen. The game starts late, so scores will be posted at 9 30 or later.
Chiang Kai-Shek telegraphed from presumed new headquarters west of Hankow that China will fight on and a decisive battle with Japan will be waged west of the Canton Hankow and Peiping Hankow railways. He affirmed resistance until ultimate victory and noted Japan’s desperate invasion of South China. Japanese forces captured Sienning and moved toward Wochow as Chinese troops retreated.
Beadle County Republicans released a full campaign rally schedule for the run to the November 5 election. The lineup includes a Pyle-Temmy day rally in Beadle County with Huron candidates for U S Senate and attorney general, plus appearances by Karl Mundt Harlan Bushfield and Chan Gurney. The events feature a county caravan leading to a 3 pm rally and a series of speeches by Gladys Pyle and Leo Femney at the windup rally on November 7 in Huron.
The commerce department reports a record national supply of ready cash as bank deposits and currency in circulation soar to about $57.7 billion. Income payments to individuals rose to 83.3 percent of the 1929 level in September, 2.9 points above the year’s low. The near-record idle funds could be loaned to stimulate business, with about $6.706 billion in currency and the rest in deposits. The readily spendable portion of deposits is estimated at $3.28 billion compared with normal needs of about $300.9 million.
Mexico launches a government drive to regain world oil markets. Azienda Generale Italiana Petroli of Rome contracts to buy several million dollars’ worth of oil. Representatives will promote sales in the United States and Brazil as Mexico continues expropriation disputes and storage pressure from former American and British properties.
Tokyo reports Premier Konoye warned France to halt arms supplies to China or Japan may take measures possibly including occupation of Hainan Island. Ambassador Sugimara protested in Paris as Asahi urged reassessment of the open door policy amid a changing Far East scene.
Marseille October 28 Premier Edouard Daladier publicly severed ties with the Communist Party and warned Parliament that if reforms fail the government may seek elections. A party resolution urged eventual recourse to an election if reforms fail, while observers noted splits within his Radical Socialist leadership and fears of a rupture with Soviet Russia.
A massive blaze in Marseille destroyed ten buildings including the Nouvel les Galeries de Paris department store and two hotels where Premier Daladier and Foreign Minister Bonnet were staying. Twenty injured, fire crews and military firefighters battled the spread as the Noailles Hotel roof collapsed. a police officer rescued Daladier and Bonnet’s papers.
Kramer of Sioux Falls is recovering at a local hospital after gunshot wounds from a hunting accident near Colman yesterday. The discharge entered his right shoulder arm and neck, with hospital attendants reporting a restful night.

An American girl is reported killed in a Japanese air raid on Hankow. Hankow advances in central China as Hankow under Japanese control. Hendaye Spain and Madrid area braces amid insurgent forces.
Budapest proposed ceding about 3860 square miles with Hungarian majorities to Hungary and agreed to immediate military talks to organize evacuations and occupations. An arbitration panel would handle eight disputed districts while plebiscites in autonomous Slovakia and Ruthenia were still demanded. Reports from Komarna near the Danube indicated rising tension as snows approach.
Prague reports Czechoslovakia enters its 20th year since 1918 amid diminished wealth and power. Premier General Jan Syrovy urges focus on reconstruction over politics, warning against revenge after recent events.
London reports Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain credited by party member Quintin Hege for the Conservative win in the first parliamentary by election since the German Czechoslovak accord. Hege tallied 15,797 votes to Lindsay’s 12,353.
