Hail insurance payments mailed for 1929 losses in South Dakota

Warrants totaling 370000 for 1929 hail losses are being mailed by the South Dakota hail insurance department. Commissioner D C Lewis notes a 50170.48 reduction from last year 1928 losses and cites premium totals under the new law. Hand county led in applications with 405 claims and Perkins Sully and Potter follow.

Watertown Builds Surge of Projects in 1929 Plans

Watertown reports near one million dollars in construction for 1929 led by the Codnington county court house the $500000 project. Other large items include a $150000 municipal light plant upgrade a $40000 wholesale warehouse a $40000 factory building and a $35000 downstown store. Also planned are a national chain store three story produce structure and a $200000 municipal auditorium. Shoreline work at Lake Kampeska totals about $50000. A mystery party is planned in Mellette for the League Endeavor with a secret venue and entertainment.

PIERRE Oct 21 Final action authorizing employment of predatory animal hunters under the state game and fish commission was taken at the commission meeting here Friday. The commission voted to employ no more than six hunters who will start work about November 1, hunting predatory animals and carrying an educational campaign in predatory animal central. Investigation of developing an artificial lake at the Boy Scout camp nine miles southwest of Miller was decided upon at the suggestion of a delegation representing the Huron Boy Scout area. Soloists to Highlight Messiah at Mitchell Corn Palace

Soloists from Chicago are expected to be the standout feature of Handel's Messiah at the Corn Palace on December 15, 1929. Dean Alvah Beecher of Dakota Wesleyan University directs the chorus as enrollment reaches 150 singers. An orchestral accompaniment will also be organized in October and all chorus and orchestra members will join the Philharmonic Society of Mitchell.

Morristown man faces license action over unsanitary station

James Gile must appear before the state secretary of agriculture to show cause why his license should not be revoked after a 35 fine on four charges of operating a creiant station in an unclean condition. Ronayne announced further prosecutions including Waitte of Gettysburg for misusing a Babcock test, Henry Keraeger cited for possessing mislabelled rifles, and a case involving confiscated stock and missing shipping seals.
