Six Members Of Dance Orchestra Killed In Crash
Six members of a well known Huron dance band were killed near Owatonna when their car collided with a cattle truck on Highway 65 about 6:40 a.m. The four other occupants were injured but reached the county morgue by 8:15 a.m. to identify victims. The group was believed to be Red Silvers orchestra of St Paul, en route to St Paul after a dance in Marshalltown, Ta. A semi-trailer truck driver was taken to Albert Lea hospital. Richard Kramer of St Paul, a Murphy Transfer driver, reported arriving at the scene first as ambulances and officers responded.

Sievers Band From Huron In Fatal Crash
Sievers band well known in Huron played dances here and around Owatonna Minnesota. Six members were killed in a highway crash near Owatonna this morning. Mike Gibbs a Huron musician knew several members and said the orchestra traveled in a van attached to a car. Duane Smith formerly at Huron High School was once a member. Chick Talcott, Bandbox manager, noted the band opened season on April 14 and returned May 13 for engagements.
