George B. Melrod was booked in police court on a reckless driving charge after a patrolman testified Melrod drove a mile and a half through city streets at 20 miles an hour with the right front wheel missing. Judge Robert J. Summers set the case for trial Thursday. A separate note tells of a Chicago incident where a policeman overheard a plan for stickups and big jobs, but the suspects were freed when the judge learned they were joking. In Watertown Cecil McCollum, 29, was badly injured when a gun discharged while being removed from a car after a hunting trip. The shot amputated his right arm below the shoulder. doctors called his condition good.
