Relief road works spread across 21 South Dakota counties with grasshopper and drought relief damage cited. State officials say about 2.0 million dollars will fund employment and materials, with work limited by approaching cold weather and local relief committees selecting eligible workers and hours.

Aged Zell Resident Buried After Long Illness

An elderly resident of Zell named Mr Haider, an old pioneer, was buried after a morning service in Aberdeen. He died at the home of his daughter Mrs Willie Brewer following a prolonged illness.

Aged Buffalo County Resident Nellie Nelson Dies

Nellie M. Nelson 81, longtime Buffalo county resident since 1883, died around October 5. Funeral services were held October 8 in Gann Valley with Rev. David Clark presiding and Special Eastern Star rites by the Kimball chapter. Burial followed in Kimball. pallbearers included O T Dye Frank Machove Chas Fraser and Winnie Dierdorf. Former Sioux Falls banker Iran Al Moor, now vice president at First National Bank and Trust in Sioux Falls, has been elected president of the new Peoples National Bank of Grand Rapids Michigan. Pierre Oct 11 South Dakota big game hunters were urged by Director C H Johnson of the State Game and Fish Department to use caution near conservation camps in the Black Hills this fall. Deer and elk season runs November 1 to 20 and permits cost 5 for residents 25 for non residents. Elk hunting limited to Fall River Custer counties and part of Pennington south of the Black Hills forest base line. Angostura Dam Project Seeks Federal Approval

A proposal for the Angostura dam on the Cheyanne River west of here moves to the Public Works Administration in Washington after tentative approval by the colonial advisory board. Local chamber of commerce committee led by W. Mur phy will present arguments, while a Hot Springs delegation pitched the plan in Minneapolis to regional advisory boards including Minnesota North Dakota South Dakota Wyoming Nebraska and Iowa.
