Mrs Carolyne Riche returned from Waubay after visiting a week with Mr and Mrs A C Riche. Deland Milbank game drew Ole Langeland Hubert Humphrey and several out of town guests. Berwyn Schrader heads to Minneapolis for high school final year.
Lane the Methodist Ladies Aid society hosted a church party for Mrs A G Pletcher who left Sunday for Pierre where the family will reside. Visitors include Harry Webber of Watertown and Rol and May who returned from Mitchells corn palace. Mrs Minnie Dittman and Paul of Washington DC were guests at Mrs Fred Hellars. Ruby Brown of Virgil visited sister Catherine. Mr and Mrs Milo Van Dyke and children of Huron called on the Fred Brandenburg home. E F Paddock visited the McCord home in Woonsocket. Stanley Gross attracted business at Wessington Springs. Lena Bartels and son Martin returned from Circle Montana where they visited Leonard Pawiowski. Bobby Zenk is recovering after being knocked down by a car. wheels ran over his chest breaking his collar bone.
Osceola and nearby residents visited various homes including the Hay Walline and WH Derschied residences. Ray mond and Erwin families dropped by, and visitors from Iroquois San Francisco and Nunda were noted. Local trips include Ray Walline to Volga on business.
Gus Aldrich of Pierre and Leah Payne of Brookings will relinquish their Hobo King and Queen titles at State College and North Dakota University on Hobo Day October 17. The campus already treats the day as a facial frenzy with unshaven students returning to class and instructors noting rapid beard growth as judges prepare to select the winner amid lively campus humor.
Alpena residents report visits from relatives and friends across South Dakota and nearby towns. Families travel to attend services, celebrate anniversaries, and greet ill relatives while several residents return from Rochester and Oakes for medical exams and fairs.

Mrs Schamber and family from near Virgil were with Mrs Schambers mother Mrs Carrie Evenson Sunday. Mrs Lewis Gricel of Monroe arrived to visit Lyle Freeman. Ed Allen and Ruth returned from Cuthbert after visiting Mr Allen. A Royer family reunion occurred at John Royers north of Alpena with Price Royer Cecil Eggleston Sal Luckey Orval Eatert A B Laurence John Royer Martha Thompson Florence Roger and others. Charles Lovett sisters Lydia Emma Adeling Ochsner returned to California after month with George Ochsners parents.
Broadland Mc and Mrs J H Rogers visited with their son Clarence and family of Virgil Sunday. Mr and Mrs William Johnston and Mr and Mrs R Johnston went to Redfeld to visit at the Robert Johnston home. Vera Anderson employed at Armour Packing in Huron has been ill for a week and stays with her sister Mrs William Speck. W G Urban, Dorothy, Frances Poulisse, and Albert Rogers visited at the hall of Lester Johnston in Miller. LS Cumming and Mrs Ellen Howell visited in Huron with Miss Leshing at the county superintendent's office.
A busy weekend as Raymond A and Bondelle Joyce born October 1 to Carl and wife. Many families, including Kahler and Erling clans, visit Rutland and Watertown. Relatives travel between Harvey, N C, Aquadell Canada, and nearby towns for meals, visits, and errands. Martha Olsen honored at a Mehlberg grove sendoff. multiple guests and shoppers noted across the region.

Mrs O W Arbogast visits Theodore. Esther Campbell had an appendicitis operation in Miller Monday evening. Don McCutchan hauled hogs for James Walsh. Bert Almond family moves to Tim O’Leary place. Robison school attendance noted. Hey Campbell family moving to Dave Robinson farm. Robinsons plan to move to Clark.
Yale, W. Daley and son Edward of Miller stopped at the B Garry and E Garry homes on a trip to Minnesota. E Cooper the mail carrier returns from vacation in Wisconsin. Mr and Mrs E Herring of Tea visited their daughter Mrs A Bieger. Edward Daley of Miller spent Sunday with Joe Welsh. Carl Harding and Mike Gourhan hauled two horse teams to Butler for winter pasture. Mr and Mrs Randell and two grandsons of Huron were here Sunday.

Mrs A Maoss went to Chadron Neb to visit friends and relatives. Bille March returned home after two years at Great Mr. Otto Jiegelborg and family shared Sunday at Iroquois. Henrietta Gifford spent two weeks at Castlewood and returned home with her uncle Mr Allen. Mrs P Smith of Cavour and Pat Mullins of Mitchell were guests of Mrs Smith. Mrs Ed Klutz is in Esmond this week taking care of her sister.
Bonilla Mc and Mrs Free McKichan visited Aberdeen to see daughters Clara and Doris at college. George McKichan and sons retrieved Mrs McKichan in Watertown who helped care for her father. A party for Robert and Arnold Emerson, departing soon with parents for Kentucky, featured each student receiving a knife from classmates.

Highmore Mr and Mrs Joseph Ondrick recently wed entertained friends at a dancing party at Reeds hall. Victor Vincent was taken to a Huron hospital for medical treatment. Mr and Mrs B M Morford traveled to Aberdeen Monday with Mr Morford to be under four physician’s care there for four weeks. Mr and Mrs Leslie Shaw visited from Pierre at the G A Shaw and Ed Davis homes. B B Benner has gone to Minnesota on a business trip.
The Ashton P T A convened in the high school auditorium for the year’s initial gathering with a teachers’ reception. A large crowd attended the program, memberships were renewed, and a luncheon was served. Two local young farmers and their families are moving to Minnesota farms, with sales of some equipment completed locally. Cecil Lewis moves to Alexandria, Paul Nash to Browns Valley, and H Hilkemeyer family plans river farm relocation, after the Hublers move to the Frank- area.
Ed Sheets and family plan to settle on the Ralph Siderius farm east of town, moving from a farm near Foley Minnesota. Mrs. H Childs spent several days in Mitchell visiting her daughter Helen and saw the Corn Palace.
Mr and Mrs Gene Gary and several relatives traveled to Mitchell the latter part of last week to attend the Corn Palace event. The group included Helen Gary Mrs F W Marsh and Earl Mrs Albert Maas Jr and Bernard Ted Waldner and George Tschetter.
