Homer Dwiggins will take oath as mayor of Brookings at the upcoming council meeting. He defeated Dr. Henrile Tillisch to fill the vacancy from Charles Gauke’s resignation. The term runs until next May. Dwiggins is a former Huron resident and ex railroad foreman turned roadmaster who moved to Brookings.
Huron High School prepares for 1939 Tiger Day coronation tonight at 7 30 in the high school auditorium. Senior boys and girls parade in to the entrance of the king and queen with attendants, as Peggy Teuber leads trumpeters and Patricia Snow acts as flower girl. Dignitaries To Follow King Bob Vanderharr and Queen Soe Adams will appear with attendants Virginia Taylor La Jean Avery and others in royal robes.
Dakota County commissioners adjourned their October session at the courthouse after two and a half days of business. They awarded snowplow equipment to Dakota Equipment Company as the low bidder at 1085 dollars, with a V-type plow and leveling wing for a 3 1/2 ton truck. The board planned to lease the county farm southeast of the city but took no action due to no bidders.
