South Dakota 4-H Honors Six Members At Banquet
Six 4-H club members received special recognition at the State Leaders Association luncheon on November 12. Leadership pins were awarded to two boys and two girls, while bronze plaques honored Gladys Lewis of Hand County and Leslie Ponto of Brookings County as all-around club members reflecting industry, attitude, and loyalty. A. W. Palm of Huron presented the plaques to Ponto and Lewis, with Esther Taskerud representing Edith Firson. The selection, by a state 4-H committee, emphasizes steady growth and service, not championships, and marks a first in South Dakota. The ceremony also added four junior leaders to the role of honor: Carol Overgaard, Allan Svee, Dale Barton, and Vernon Noordsy, each receiving leadership pins from association officials.
