September Jobs Totaled 1,247 in South Dakota
The Social Security Board said public employment service in South Dakota placed 1,247 workers in private jobs in September, down 15.4 percent from August. Correspondence school operators jailed in Minnesota case
Two St Paul men, Harry E. Marsh and Harry A. Olson, who ran so called correspondence schools were sentenced to a year and a day each in federal court. They pleaded guilty to conspiracy and fraud over promises of government civil service exam training. Yankton Plumber Dies of Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound
Yankton, Nov. 25. John Balda Jr., a 56 year old Yankton plumber, died at a local hospital after a gunshot wound to the head. Officials cite self inflicted action with no clear motive, though friends say he had been despondent.
