Minnesota Woman Convicted of Arson by Jury
Eleanor Jeffrey was found guilty by a district court jury of arson for burning her home and poultry laundry last May. She was sentenced to a two year term by Judge Alvert Enerson and enroute to the Shakopee women's reformatory to begin serving. The state claimed she hired a man to set the fire to collect 18506 insurance. her defense blamed lightning. She conducted a 20 day hunger strike while jailed awaiting trial.
