Findings To Aid Farm Planning In South Dakota
In 1938 twelve South Dakota counties will map and classify land to identify areas suited and unsuited to farming. State leader W. Jones announced cooperation among federal, state, and local agencies in Union, Miner, Sanborn, Sully, Hand, Hyde, Tripp, Mellette, Todd, Perkins, Meade, and Custer counties. Community committees will assess physical features and current use, with local recommendations guiding public forestry, flood control, and reclamation efforts. The plan aims to enable long term farming goals and economic security for farmers and families through coordinated agency action and 220 agricultural demonstrations statewide.

He rode with Clem Sherwood and Mike Kelly, who were later sentenced to three years each for car theft. Seitz said Sherwood invited him for a ride to the lakes before declaring they were bound for Chicago.
