Mitchell Nov 15 Judge Frank B. Smith in the four judicial circuit overruled an attorney general opinion that a sheriff is paid for one court per day. He held sheriffs may be paid for each appearance, so three appearances mean three payments, and all county claims must be filed before March 31 or be barred.

Rowdiness Lands Two Ft Thompson Indians in Jail
Highmore South Dakota report says Reuben Skunk and Gregory Skunk, Indian boys living near Ft Thompson, caused disturbance on Saturday. Gregory appeared before Judge Whitcher on Monday and was fined thirty days in jail and a $100 fine. Reuben received a ten dollar penalty. Their mother, ill for some time, died Sunday and the boys were allowed to attend the funeral.
