Five Fined For Shooting Fawns

Five men pleaded guilty in Rapid City to hunting and killing two deer fawns over the weekend. Fines and costs totaling 458.45 were imposed. Licenses were canceled and rifles confiscated. additional man faced a possession charge with a 108 fine. First violations since the big game season opened Friday.

Six Year Sleep Ends In Death

Dorothy June Russell died after a six year sleep that began with whooping cough and encephalitis. The child, once fed by spoon and later kept in a hospital, never recovered from a coma despite medical study and attempts at artificial feeding.

College Names Miss Alyce Sarver Nurse for Student Health Service

Miss Alyce Sarver R N formerly of Brookings has been appointed college nurse at Huron College in charge of the new Student Health Service. She is a graduate of Mounds-Nidway School of Nursing and was with Municipal Hospital in Brookings. The Health Service operates from the Administration Building with redecorated rooms and basic clinical equipment.

Airport Heating Contract Awarded Huron Furnace Company

The Huron municipal airport hangar will receive a heating system after the city commissioners awarded the contract to Huron Furnace Company for 2104 dollars. Four bids were submitted with Pugsley Plumbing and Heating Company second at 2170.
