New Stage Settings For South Dakota Play At U of S
Vermillion November 5 stylistic changes will define Another Language first time at the University of South Dakota. The set is minimal with no sidewalls, black curtains, and only enough scenery to suggest locale. Quick scene changes cut intervals between acts, drawing on Guthrie McClintic style. The play follows a family of four who lack imagination and culture, with two members resisting aesthetic values. The title reflects their use of "another language" in art. The action unfolds on Tuesday evenings as three married sons visit mother Mrs Helm, in New York City, though the themes are universal.
