Farley May Not Return To Post

The Associated Press reports that James A. Farley, Democratic chairman, may retire from the Roosevelt cabinet after Roosevelt's reelection. Farley took a leave of absence as postmaster general last August to focus on the campaign and may keep party chairmanships at the national and New York state levels while not certain about returning to the postmaster general post. He indicated no decision on a 1938 gubernatorial run, and friends say his priority is a gold armor. Farley began as Stony Point town clerk and rose to state committee secretary, then chairman, and after 1932 became national committee chairman while remaining a presidential adviser.
