Pioneering pheasant dies from broken back in Watertown
In Watertown on May 3 a veteran ring neck pheasant, released in 1913 and once the pride of the city pheasant park, died from a self inflicted broken back after being frightened by boys near its pen. Frank Bramble, keeper of a city game bird hospital, received the bird from a local sportsman a year earlier.

Aberdeen May 30 Wheat and small grains are well fortified with excellent roots and healthy stalks per the Milwaukee railroad weekly crop survey. In St Lawrence May special report a Studebaker belonging to Bill Rediger living five miles south of Miller burned at a school picnic in St Lawrence park. The Hedigers were at the picnic when smoke was spotted. Fire alarms sounded and the St Lawrence fire company arrived quickly but could not save the car. A short circuit is suspected as the cause.
Wellington Springs Exhibit Draws Large Crowd
Wellington Springs county exhibit at the community room drew a large crowd with about six hundred visitors registered over Friday and Saturday. County superintendent Gregory estimated over 166 did not register. The exhibit showcased work by 9 pupils and teachers with more material than previous years, reflecting changes in education.
