Planting Delay Is Unimportant
Wet weather and seed loan delays slow South Dakota seeding by about two weeks yet the unusually late spring reduces impact. Acreages will fall little, about 10 percent idle due to seed, money, or power gaps, mainly along the Missouri river. Emergency forage crops rise about 10 percent overall, with some counties seeing up to 50 percent increases. Corn plantings unlikely to rise as small grain cuts occur.
