Senate Finance Panel Drops Tax on Tax Plan
WASATNCTON May 22 The Senate finance committee agreed to drop the tax on taxes from the new corporate tax plan. The change would reduce revenue by about 40 million, but the revised plan would still raise roughly 529 million yearly after the first year plus 100 million from a windfall tax on processors evading levies. President Roosevelt seeks 792 million annual for three years then 620 million afterward. The compromise retains an 18 percent tax on total corporate income a 7 percent tax on undistributed corporate income and 4 percent tax on corporate dividends. An exemption of 1 000 of income is now set for corporations with no more than 15 000 in earnings, previously 20 000.
