Yankton Plans Fifty-First College Commencement
Yankton college prepares for its fifty-first annual commencement on June 4. Seventy-three graduates will receive degrees. Highlights include Rev. Charles Gerlinger of Sioux Falls delivering the baccalaureate sermon and Judge Herbert B. Rudolph of the South Dakota Supreme Court giving the commencement address. The program features music recitals, student concerts, a picnic, alumni banquet, and the Shakespearean play Homeo and Juliet directed by Sydney H. Spayde.

Approximately 30 ministers and laymen from Mitchell attend the Mitchell Sioux Falls district brotherhood rally of the Methodist Episcopal church. Dr J S Hoagland will lead the one day program with talks by Bishop J Ralph Magee and Dr Bert E Smith. A noon lecture, 3 pm conference, and dinner for ministers follow with evening talks and special music.

Robert Sullivan of Chicago, prominent Yankton college senior, will be initiated into the monogram club of Yankton College. Sullivan earned his first letter in basketball last year and has participated in football and track. He is the son of Thomas T. Sullivan of Stewart-Warner Co., Chicago, and graduates cum laude this June with ties to the university quartets and song service.

University student earns exceptional SDSU record
Robert Rempfer of Parkston aged 19 graduates with a bachelor of arts degree on June 5 as the second SDSU student to graduate summa cum laude under the 1931 32 grading system. He entered in 1930 31 at age 16, completed four years of work in three years, and studied mathematics with minors in chemistry German and physics. He is Phi Beta Kappa Phi Eta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Epsilon secretary. He was a Cecil Rhodes Scholarship candidate district contest participant and has pursued extensive independent study and correspondence.

Cottonwood Lake Resort Opens for Summer Fun
Redfield residents gathered at Cottonwood Lake on Sunday for the official opening of the summer season. Families swam, fished, and rode boats as cottages were spruced up with trees and shrubs.
