How a Vacuum Tube Forms an Electron Beam
The tube contains a filament that emits electrons, which pass through two holes and are accelerated by a first and second anode to about 3 000 to 4 000 volts. The second anode focuses the beam onto a fluorescent screen while deflecting plates outside steer the beam to scan the image. The screen grounds charges, and brightness is adjustable.
