Special Procedure To Fill Judge Vacancy
Piekke May 11 State law provides a special procedure to fill a county judge vacancy caused by death. The attorney general advised the state's attorney that a candidate may file a nominating petition with signatures equal to 40 percent of county electors at least 40 days before the general election to qualify for the ballot. In this case the late Judge T B Uhler Chamberslain had filed his nominating petition and was unopposed but died ten days before the primary, making normal succession unavailable.
