County Road Change Puts Route Near Lake Byron

County commissioners voted three to two to recommend a new county road designation. The proposed route would shift seven miles east of Dakota Avenue to a line near Valley and Lake Byron townships, sending the road one mile west of the present path toward the south boundary line. Five Killed In Fire Destroys Amarillo Hotel

Five men died and a woman is believed fatally injured when a tourist hotel in Amarillo Texas burned today. Bodies were found on the third floor by a firefighter. a man perished leaping from that floor. Landlady Mrs Birdie Rhodes jumped to escape and was badly hurt. identifications were not made. Some guests were injured as the blaze swept through the structure.
